hopefully this will work! if anyone can help I'd appreciate it, first male or female? second I would like to figure out what the lighter one is! split or pied? or will I be flummoxed? what do you think guys, the peas are just hanging in the green house until their pen is finished, I put an 10'w x 14'l x 6'h enclosed yard on it for them, they love it for now! Hi there,

My suggestion for you is to find your 2 little (boys) some girlfriends...They would love you even more then..That was just a little joke..Yes, they are both boys...As for pied or split----if you know what the parents were it would be a little easier to tell you..As it could be dark pied white eyed....or split to pied. Without knowing the parents, it is hard for anyone to tell you for sure --which...Sorry about that..Still I hope you enjoy your birds. Peafowl have such interesting personalities. And are truelly fun to watch.......Julie

Julie, thanks for the info! I am glad to have them sexed now they can get individual names, you are so right about their personalities, I can sit and watch them for hours, it is only my OCD that makes me go on about pied or split, I purchased the eggs off of ebay (before I found this site) and they were both suppose to be IB's so there's no telling what they are! I just thought with a pied you could have more white than a split, I guess unless it's a really pied bird you have to wait and breed! I'm amazed at the color difference between the two bird, and the barring on the shoulders being so different, course I don't know why I breed appaloosa horses and they change color every season let alone try to guess what a baby will look like, thanks again. Suzy
