Not sure of his age, I have had Clyde for about a year now. He shares his coop with another male and two females (1.5 yrs old)... the back of Clyde's neck appears to be swollen, just behind his head, it's been a few days now, but I noticed when he fans his feathers, his neck is fine, so I don't think it's a lump. He has been very noisy as well. Could his neck appear kinked from being on his perch so much? Is this normal for this time of year?

Any advise is welcome, I'm madly in love with these creatures & want to do my best to keep them healthy & happy...

A photo of this peacock's head might help somebody understand what is wrong.

Lisa. I would guess it is sign that he is really ready to breed. this will go away later this year as he looses his trane . connerhills

Connerhills, thank you for this information as today I also noticed a swelling in one of my two year old males neck. I watched him closely for a few hours and he seems to be eating and acting normal. I thought it might have something to do with the mating season so was happy to read that you also feel that this is from his posturing for the past few weeks. To be safe I added safeguard to the peafowl's water in case it was capilaria as my birds are all free ranged. Thanks again.

A peacock often kinks his neck just before throwing his train up to spread into position
for his territorial fan dance.
