Hi everybody, I'm Dan. I'm getting my first peachicks this summer. I have raised alot of poultry, but I sure could use any advice on peafowl. I have a horse, miniature goats, snowy call ducks, Welsummer chickens, homing pigeons, a Border Collie & an English Shepherd. Nice to meet you,
Dan

Welcome, Dan
You'll be able to find just about everything you need here and in the Peafowl Today magazine. Visit members' websites and browse around. There is a lot of important info on these sites. Whenever you have specific questions, just ask. There are lots of people here who helped me get started, and they'd love to give you a hand, too.

WELCOME Dan, do you also race your homers? You may want to start with 3 yr old pr. ,as peacocks need to be 3 before they get their full train(tail). They will breed at 2 yr. Lots of members here to help ,just ask away.

I used to race my homers, but it takes away alot of family time on the weekends, waiting for birds to come home. I still like to watch them fly. I think peachicks are right for me. I like to get them used to me & my farm while they are little. I am patient, can wait for that nice tail. Thanks

Hi Dan.. Very Happy Welcome to the forum. If you want REALLY friendly peachicks you may want to consider hatching your own. Find someone near you with fertile eggs and hatch them yourself or get them from a breeder right out of the incubator. I hatched my own and they are very friendly to me. They eat out of my hand. They always run to me when I go to the pen.. Very Happy I enjoy having friendly peacocks. Just a suggestion. Wink

Hey ilroost

I'd love to see a pic of your pygmy goats. Could you post something under the "Off Topic" header and tell me why you like them so much? I don't know much about goats. Thanks.
