Hi guys,
please help asap if you can, have a sick peacock.
As stated in the subject line, he has foamy watery eyes and is keeping them shut a lot.
Head/eye area is not really swollen .
He's shaking his head side to side and opening his beak as if to try and swallow a piece of bread that is too large for him .
He also has been lightly " beating" his beak on the ground some -almost like he's trying to sharpen his beak but for sure that's not what he's trying to accomplish here.
As of now am starting him on Tylan in the water, 1/8 tsp. per gallon for the whole flock of about 15 ( includiing some guineas)
Not sure if that's the correct dose per gallon so just went for it .
Don't have enough birds here to justify mixing a stock solution really .
Thanks if you can help.

Can you syringe some of the mix down his throat? _________________ Be the change you want to see in the world. |

thanks for getting back featherhead. Am restlessly waiting for my hubby to get home from work so he can hold the bird for me while I try that. |

While youy have a hold of him, flush his eye with saline solution (1TBS/1cup water). _________________ Rancho Escondido

ok, great idea and thanks !
He seems a bit better today and his eyes look a lot better.
Head shaking and opening his beak still going on some though and he's not as energetic as he should be.
Keeping him and the whole flock on Tylan -will do that for 5 days.
Not sure what I'm dealing with here but it seems to be helping. Have administered to him via a syringe 2x now along with a wormer and some vitamins and electrolytes-keeping my fingers crossed he'll be 100 % soon.
Thanks again Sonoita and featherhead ! |
