I live in Southern California and this summer has been a very hot & humid one. I am new to peafowl & want to make sure I'm doing everything possible to make them comfortable. It has been over 100 for most of this week and looks like it will continue. I have a large tray of water in the coop which is home to 2 peahens & 2 peacocks, I noticed they are taking turns standing in it....should I go get a kiddie pool for them?

My own peahens do enjoy standing in water that is ln old refrigerator vegetable bins or
other containers six or eight inches deep when they are feeling hot before laying eggs.
But here in Georgia when sun is fierce SHADE is vital for my birds in secure pens.
Metal roof material that is too old and leaky for a coop or rain shelter is still good for
blocking the sun Exclamation ......if you are NOT as wealthy as the first peafowl importer,
King Solomon who could also aford to order apes, gold and ivory. Rolling Eyes
